Mumbai Rains: City Faces Severe Waterlogging After 300 mm of Rainfall in 6 Hours, Disrupting Bus and Train Services.
Flight operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) experienced significant disruptions on Monday morning due to unexpectedly heavy rainfall in Mumbai. The downpour resulted in extensive waterlogging and severe traffic congestion throughout the city.

Air India has issued an advisory urging passengers to leave early for the airport due to slow traffic and waterlogging. The airline also recommends that passengers check the status of their flights before departing for the airport.
“#ImportantUpdate: Flights to and from Mumbai are experiencing disruptions due to heavy rainfall. We advise our guests to allow extra travel time to the airport, as traffic is moving slowly and waterlogging could cause delays. Please check your flight status before heading to the airport by visiting: Flight Status,” Air India posted on X.
Similarly, IndiGo has informed passengers about the impact of heavy rains on flights to and from Mumbai. The airline encourages passengers to check their flight status and offers the option to rebook an alternate flight or claim a full refund.

Passengers are advised to stay informed and plan their journey accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
Due to adverse weather conditions, heavy traffic congestion and slow-moving vehicles are anticipated on routes leading to Mumbai Airport today. Vistara has advised travellers to allocate additional time for their journey to the airport.
Similarly, SpiceJet has cautioned that its flights to and from Mumbai may experience delays or cancellations. Passengers are encouraged to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has also forecasted further heavy rainfall today. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts light to moderate rain over Mumbai in the next three hours. In response, the BMC has mobilised its entire machinery to manage the situation. Additionally, BEST has reported that several bus routes have been diverted due to significant waterlogging across the city.
The National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) has mobilised its teams across various regions of Maharashtra in response to the heavy rains. The deployment includes teams in Thane, Vasai/Palghar, Mahad/Raigad, Chiplun/Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Ghatkopar, Kurla, and Sindhudurg.
In addition to these, three regular NDRF teams have been stationed in Andheri and one in Nagpur. These teams are ready to act swiftly to prevent any potential disasters and to provide immediate assistance in the event of flooding or other emergencies.
